I am looking for the most thorough paperback of The Lord of the Rings, as well as a good map that is legible?

I would like to purchase LOTR in paperback. I'm guessing the 1965 copyrighted blue book (ISBN 0-345-33208-3) is the best set to purchase,as it seem very thorough, with it's appendices and maps (but I would like your opinions on this matter), but then the maps are so difficult to read.

Even online, I am having a difficult time reading the maps. So I would also like to find an online map that is very legible. I wish the maps were not copyrighted. It would be nice to have new electronic maps made from scratch, ideally by professional cartographers, with proper scales, etc.

Thank you.|||Maps: http://www.lords-of-blah.nl/mearth/meart鈥?/a>

As to the books, all of the versions I've had in my hands (paperback and hard cover) were complete with appendixes and maps. Just go to your bookstore and browse, if you are not sure what to get. Just make sure you don't get anything that has the word "abridged" on it.
