Why does medical technology focus on creating more and more expensive diagnostic devices.. ...?

... and aids that the average taxpayer cannot afford to pay for, and most health insurance policies do not cover?

Wouldn't the money be better spent on therapeutic research?

For example, the new "Spider pill" that is being developed so that patients can swallow it and the electronic device maps out their upper or lower gastrointestinal tract.. instead of using the usual endoscope,.. Just because some people find it invasive.|||is there a cogent question here|||You are right, it would be nice. The problem is that our medical field is geared for pills rather than good health. In most cases the pills don't do what exercise could do for the person. Then you have the pharmaceutical companies paying for some of the dr.'s expenses so they end up being indebted to them. They have a book that if followed they will have a full medical community backing them up on having done the right thing no matter how bad it was. Until we go after the real problems and solve them as the problem instead of giving a pill to cover up the pain which can cause other problems which will require deeper and more detailed tests to figure out.

Then there is the company itself, it is dependent upon finding new machines to do something new and exciting. When someone has it then you have to find a way to pay for it, so that means using it. CAT scans and MRI's are at a all time high for usage and most of them find nothing at all. Yet the sad truth is that for many people just being more active would be the answer to the big machines but dr.'s would go out of business if that would happen. You could have several big and powerful drug company's go under, and they don't want that to happen to them either, so they get the dr.'s more indebted to them and make sure the text books are followed to the T. We become the losers in this game of greed, and yet the answer for so much is in our own hands to begin with. How do you deal with that? How do you tell people that the good life they have worked for is now the life that is killing them? They don't want to believe it as long as they can get a pill for it.|||Douglas, great answer. I would like to add that diet is just as important as moving around. I mean a hole foods diet, devoid of chemicals or processing. I do not mean a low fat diet.

I am a pharmacist who's life was almost ruined by taking my own medicine. Now I hate all pharmaceuticals and their makers. It is all a big scam to ruin your health and make money while your health goes down hill slowly and profits go up, fast.

Vaccines kill more people than they help and you can never sue the manufactures. That is the only immunity in the vaccine business.
