Simple question about electronics ( pcb )?

Si i bought an electronic kit for building a radio but while i was soldering , i saw few things in the map that i couldn't understand , its written there 22K what does that mean ? Like capacitors or transistor or what ?? Please i need help fast to complete the kit

Thanks in advance ..|||1) The "map" is called a schematic diagram.

2) 22 k stands for 22,000. K means 1,000. The symbol you are referring to is probably a zigzag line with a designation of "R" followed by a number. (R1, R2...R53...etc.) The R means Resistor and the number is a reference to which specific resistor it is. For instance, there may be a companion text which explains the function of (let's say) R5 as "a current limiting resistor." The designation 22 k means it is a 22,000 ohm resistor.

3) The capacitors will be designated as "C" followed by a number. (C1, C2, etc.) The "size" of a capacitor is measured in Farads. For most capacitors, the Farad is too big a unit, so you will see most designated in microfarads. A microfarad is 1/1000,000 of a Farad. Micro stands for "one millionth."

Even if you don't understand everything on the schematic, if you simply build the kit exactly according to the instructions, the radio will function just fine. In the future you may want to take a trip to your local Radio Shack or similar store for a book on basic electronics to learn more. Then all those symbols and cryptic designations won't be so confusing. Have fun!|||K often means a thousand (or kilo). Some earn a 60K salary, etc.|||22 kilo ohms indicate a resistor.
