Electronic map - what's it called?

What do they call the little computer one carries in a car to find directions? What's it's average cost? Where can one buy it?|||GPS or global positioning system, they are normally around 拢150 for a good one, get a garmin or a tom tom IMO they are the best forthe money

basically you can buy them in radio shack, maplins, halfords, PC world all over the place

it works by 24 satalites that can triangulate your position, and from this they can work out how fast your going, where you are etc etc|||In Canada the average price is probably around $600 or more, but there are plenty of good units in the $300 to $400 price range, such as TomTom ONE and others made by Garmin, LG, etc. Our local Costco has a Magellan model for $319.99. The same models in the US sell for about $250 to $350 (US Dollars). CNET is a great place to get info on GPS. You can buy them just about anywhere you would find comsumer electronics: Best Buy, Source by Circuit City, Future Shop, Fry's, Canadian Tire, Radio Shack, etc. Or you find them on-line through CNET or MySimon.
